Chemical Specification

Are you looking for metal contaminants that interfere with your product or process? Most analysis for Chemical Specification is performed by following the methods in Reagent Chemicals, Specifications and Procedures, Tenth Edition, and American Chemical Society Specifications. ACS Labs also provides consulting services for difficult to determine analysis.

Trace Metal Analysis in Petroleum

ANALYTICAL CONSULTING SERVICES (ACS LABS) is a commercial testing lab, with a focus on trace and ultra-trace metal analysis for all types of petroleum products. Specialty analysis has been designed to analyze for Mercury, Arsenic, Sulfur, and other metals, in solids, liquids and gases.

Precious Metals Assay

Precious metals are determined in ores, concentrates, catalyst and other precious metal bearing materials. The analysis is performed by digesting the sample in mixed acids and analyzing the resulting solution by ICP-MS. Upon request, ore samples can be checked for gold and silver by fire assay techniques. ACS Labs also offers consulting services in the assay and recovery of precious metals for ore samples.

API Mineral Pattern

ACS Labs has created a cost-effective analysis package to meet the needs of our clients for their water analysis. The API Mineral Pattern Analysis includes the cations (Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Barium, Iron, Strontium, Total Dissolved Solids, Ion Balance, pH, Specific Gravity, Conductivity) and anions (Chloride, Sulfide as H2S, Sulfate, Carbonate, Bicarbonate) in the Mineral Pattern. This analysis is performed on water only. Typical applications for the API Mineral Pattern Analysis are production water, drill water fluid systems, storage water, sea water, etc.

SOLDER SAMPLE ANALYSIS

Solder sample analysis is performed on pot and wave samples for preventive maintenance and targeting solder-related failures. ACS provides metals analysis to assure the solder samples have not been contaminated with other metals which might affect its performance. Typical metals assayed in solder samples are Tin, Lead, Silver, Copper, Iron, and Silicon.

Resin Road Reflective Bead analysis

State highway departments use Resin Glass Reflective Beads on highway roads and pavements to guide traffic and separate lanes by road marking. At night, the reflective beads are illuminated by headlights from cars and trucks. States are now mandating certain analysis on these reflective resin glass beads, specifically Arsenic, Lead and Antimony. Most states require this testing to be done by EPA 3052 and 6010 testing methods. ACS has been providing this analysis to many states and manufacturers of glass beads since the laws went into effect a few years ago.

Catalyst Sample Analysis

Catalyst samples are analyzed for several reasons. Some catalyst companies buy and sell worldwide depending on metal content contained in the catalysts.

A catalyst helps make a reaction go forward faster or slower but a catalyst is not consumed by the reaction itself. The catalyst may participate in multiple chemical transformations. ACS tests catalysts for poisons which may cause problems for industry use and ACS also tests for percentage of known values for resale and trading of catalysts. This can be for known values of Copper, Cobalt , Nickel, Vanadium, Carbon, Sulfur, Tungsten, etc., and also precious metals. ACS also tests Zeolites as they are used as catalysts in the petrochemical industry.

ACS identifies catalyst poisoning by elements such as Sulphur, Chlorine or unwanted heavy metals which can cause catalyst failure in service.

Trace levels of most elements found in catalysts are determined by ICP analysis techniques. Samples are put into solution before analysis by instrumentation to then determine the presence of elements in the catalyst.
